I was out with a friend drawing on South Congress while the ACL crowd was buzzing around.

Sam Playing xbox

Another sketch/painting done on the ipad. This one using the watercolor brushes. The effect is really similar to actual watercolor. Kind of amazing.

Busy night with dinner, piano lessons, neighborhood meeting, stuff and I almost forgot about the painting. So, I did a quick sketch on Masons ipad (ok, it is not oil). Fun. I may alter my project parameters to include ipad art. Happy birthday Josh!
Put a Smile On
09/21/11 01:46
I may not be able to paint today as we are celebrating my son’s birthday. I was helping my studio mate Ellen with a project for folks who have a narcissist in their life. The book is going to be called Sweet Relief, so I was brainstorming with Ellen on it. I liked the idea of swapping out a frown with a smile. Removing the eyes from the face really helped move the viewers eyes to the idea. Well, at least I thought so. :-)
Sketch 9.19.11

I just had my sketchbook this evening while Sam was at his orchestra practice. I don’t know what this is, maybe tombstone land? lumpy forest land?
At the Opera

Another painting from the sketchbook. A patron sits in his chair watching an opera performance.
Sam Reading

I did a sketch of Sam reading on his ipod. He got a bit stretched out and looking at this I see the adult he is soon to be. I really love this sketch.
Sam the Archer
08/22/11 09:05 Filed in: Daily Painting
Still behind on paintings. So, here is another sketch that may find its way to a painting. Sam practicing archery. The diagram thought bubbly thing is my interpretation of the internal calculus going on before the arrow flies.
The Day My Hair Fell
07/20/11 10:32 Filed in: Daily Painting
I don’t think a painted version of this would be an improvement, so I am posting the drawing. Personally, I love being bald, but I know some are dismayed by the loss of their hair. I do recall the passage of time while the hair receded but I also remember thinking, “geez, that was quick.”
Self Portrait

Really I will start painting again. Maybe even in a few minutes. Until then, a self portrait with beer.
The Outpatient
07/05/11 02:06 Filed in: Daily Painting
Gloria had a procedure this morning (that went really well) so I did a sketch of her resting comfortably afterwards. I hope to get a painting done today, I have really slipped, but I have been managing to get some sketching done daily. Vacations can really mess with the daily routines. Going to be 103 here today.
Leaning White Pine

The leaning white pine and a barn near my Aunts home. Trying to get back to painting and might to do a painting or two from some of these sketches.

Some quick sketches of Melissa and Henk exchanging vows. What a beautiful day... the sketches are not quite as nice :-)
Sketchbook 6.25

We traveled to the east coast for a wedding and visit with family. So, I left the paints behind and tried to get some sketches in.
